Confident Breastfeeding For Real Life

How do I know if my baby is getting enough milk?

What breastfeeding position is best for me?

When should I pump?

How do I know when my baby needs a bottle?

Congratulations on your soon-to-arrive baby! If you are like most parents, you’ve done a lot to prepare! Birth plan (yep!), baby clothes and diapers (check!), and stroller (obviously!) But when it comes to breastfeeding your baby… are you winging it? If the questions above had you saying “I have no idea”, you’re in the same boat as most new parents. They think:

“They’ll teach me to breastfeed at the hospital.”

My friend, let me tell you something. I’ve worked in the hospital for years as both a postpartum nurse and a lactation consultant. There’s simply no time to learn everything you need to know to get breastfeeding off to a good start in those first overwhelming days.

The Reality

The reality is that by the time your baby is born, you’ll be exhausted. Nurses are on a tight schedule, and they might not have time to help. Lactation support may happen while your family is visiting, or when you’ve shut your eyes to take a nap for the first time in 24 hours. Doing some level of preparation will help you better absorb the information you do get on the postpartum unit, and it will also help you feel empowered when it comes to feeding your baby, helping you tune in to your maternal instinct.

Feeding Your Baby is a Round-the-Clock Job

You’ll be feeding your baby 8–12 times a day. Feeding your baby will be the most frequent and ongoing theme for MONTHS to come. Sometimes it doesn’t come naturally. Educating yourself now can help you avoid the stress, overwhelm, and frustration that come with feeling unprepared.

Testimonials

  • This course was very informative and Kylie was so kind and personable. She answered all my questions and reassured me. I love that I get access to the information that will be needed once the baby is here so I don’t have to worry about memorizing everything or keep track of notes! You go in thinking it’s just about latching but it’s more than that. You get information that you didn’t even think you would need or know to ask for!

  • I absolutely loved this class. Kylie does an amazing job teaching it, and it was very informational. I personally feel like every soon-to-be mom should take this class (whether they think they want to breast feed or not) just to be informed! Before this course, I really didn't have any idea on what to do or how to breastfeed, but I feel confident now with the information and resources I received. I loved how she included my partner in the course. He was able to ask his own questions and even had a whole section dedicated to him! We both walked away feeling like we learned so much and will be able to breastfeed our little girl.

  • Kylie was there for every stage of my breastfeeding journey. From the early education sessions (as a second-time mom, I didn’t think I needed this—but it’s wild how much you forget, and I even learned a few new things!), she made sure we were set up for success right from the start. She was hands-on in the newborn stage—checking baby for any tongue or lip ties, helping us get positioned correctly, and ensuring both baby and I were comfortable and pain-free. Later on, around 1.5 to 2 months in, we went back to Kylie as I began pumping more and introducing a bottle. She was so helpful in figuring out my supply and pumping here and there. She also guided us through bottle feeding in a way that wouldn’t negatively affect baby’s breastfeeding. My favorite part of working with Kylie was that she never pushed her own opinions. Instead, she educated and supported us in the goals my husband and I had set for our child and our breastfeeding journey.
