Lactation and Support Services

When Should You See a Lactation Consultant?

Many parents reach out when they’re feeling overwhelmed, in pain, or unsure if things are going right. If nursing or pumping isn’t going as well as you had hoped , or you’re asking yourself any of the questions below, it would be beneficial to schedule an appointment as soon as possible.

Are you asking yourself:

  • Why is latching hurting? (Breastfeeding shouldn’t be painful!)

  • Why is my baby struggling to latch or stay on the breast?

  • I am worried about my milk supply—too much or too little?

  • Is my baby not gaining weight as expected?

  • Do I need help with pumping or bottle-feeding?

  • How do I keep up my milk supply now that I’m going back to work?

If you nodded yes to any of these, I’m here for you. You don’t have to figure it out alone. I can help you feel confident and supported in your feeding journey, whatever that looks like for you.

Breastfeeding is natural, but that doesn’t mean it always comes easily. If you’re struggling, you’re not alone, and getting help early can make all the difference.

Let’s find what works best for you and your baby.

FAQs

When do I pay for the consult?

The fee for the consultation will be paid at the time of scheduling the visit.

Do you take insurance?

Springs Lactation is currently a cash-pay-only practice. I am in the process of getting credentialed to accept insurance, including Colorado Health First Medicaid. But for now, you must pay out of pocket. I am happy to provide you with a superbill to submit to insurance for reimbursement.

What if I have questions after the visit?

We have a HIPAA-compliant messaging portal where you can reach me and ask any questions that might come up. If it becomes clear your need another visit to address your concerns, I will let you know that. Otherwise, ask away! I’m here to support you and your goals!

Fees and Policies

  • I operate as a self-pay practice to provide the highest quality, personalized care without the limitations of insurance restrictions. This means I can focus fully on your needs—offering extended visits, direct access to support, and customized care plans.

To make services more accessible, I offer flexible payment plans so you can get the support you need without financial strain. I can provide a superbill for potential insurance reimbursement, and lactation services are HSA/FSA eligible, allowing you to use pre-tax dollars for your care.

  • Springs Lactation is a private-pay practice, which means I do not bill insurance directly. However, I can provide you with a superbill—a detailed receipt of services—that you can submit to your insurance provider for possible reimbursement. You may receive partial or full reimbursement, depending on your plan.

Lactation services are also HSA/FSA eligible, allowing you to use pre-tax dollars for your care. Be sure to check with your provider for specific coverage details.

    Will my insurance reimburse me?

Many plans do reimburse for lactation services, but coverage varies. I recommend calling your insurance provider to ask:

    • Do you reimburse for out-of-network lactation services?

    • What documentation do you require for reimbursement?

    • Do I need a referral or pre-authorization?

  • Lactation support is an investment in your confidence, your baby’s well-being, and your feeding journey. Because of the time and expertise I dedicate to each consultation, I do not offer refunds for completed services.

That said, my priority is making sure you feel supported. If you need additional guidance after our session, I’m happy to offer extra follow-up support to help you reach your goals. Just reach out, and we’ll find a way to keep you moving forward.
